Students were picked up at the Blue House and used public transportation of the ADA Bus with our driver, Jeff, to Walmart. Students were in charge of collecting each of the items we had on our list. Students were asked to estimate prices, recognize signs that could be used as information and guidance to locate the items, use direction words to assist their peers as they traveled throughout the store, discriminate between different brands of the same items to choose the one with the best price for its amount, and then successfully checkout and purchase the items. Talk about major social communication and functional skills! Cooperation at its finest.
