January 27th-29th
This was a very fun and eventful week for the Pioneer Pipeline Program. The kids and peer mentors continued spending time together doing various activities around campus and the community. One highlight for the week was Pipeline participants and their mentors cleaning offices of Marietta College Education Department professors. The students’ duties consisted of cleaning tables and furniture, vacuuming the floor, watering plants, and cleaning dishes. The students received “paychecks” for their hard work. The money went into our class money jar for an end of the year party. Another highlight for the week was Bryant and his peer mentor Justin went to Giant Eagle and got food to cook in Harrison Hall. Bryant and Justin made Bryant’s favorite meal of chicken nuggets and French fries. Students’ also got to spend some time on the iPad’s in Harrison Hall and spent quality time with their peer mentors. Lauren and her peer mentor Natalie spent time shooting basketball in the recreation center. They also met with the library staff and set up a schedule for Lauren to start her internship at the Marietta College Library. Jade met her new peer mentor Angela. They both went to Jade’s internship at Subway and spent the day getting to know each other. Overall, it was a very busy week for the program and the kids continue to improve.

Employment: Some of the students helped out our education department by assisting with cleaning the office area.
Social/Recreational: Ashton enjoyed hanging out with her mentor at different places around campus.
Academic: Anna got to work with her mentor on her spelling this week... which she was evidently thrilled about.
