Welcome Back Pioneer Pipeline
Summer is finally over! With the end of summer comes the start of the school year and the Pioneer Pipeline Program. Pipeline is already in full gear on the campus of Marietta College. We have a lot of new students to the Pipeline Program this school year. We had a busy first week on campus. Here are some highlights from the week.
Monday was the first day of school for us. Since we had a lot of new faces, we did a few "get to know you" activities. One of the activities we did was called a student dictionary. Every student, teacher, and aide had to answer these questions about themselves:
Another fun activity we did to get familiar with campus was to have a scavenger hunt all around Marietta College. Students, teachers, and aides were split into smaller groups and had to find different locations around campus while also taking a picture to prove they had found the spot. Some of those locations included Gilman, Izzys, the cafe, the Banjo, the Pioneer Wood Carving, and the Blue House. We all had a great time running around campus finding the different spots. One group got lucky and the President of Marietta College, Bill Rudd stopped them on campus and asked them what they were doing. President Rudd then pointed out where some of spots on the scavenger hunt list were located. Ms. Sells's group got photo-bombed by Mrs. Sandy's group in front of Gilman. We all had a great time. To finish out the first week, we did a budgeting pretest. This was to see how much we knew about budgeting and money management. We were also tested on how to write out a check and how to keep a ledger. Mastering these skills will help us after our time with the Pioneer Pipeline Program, so that we can properly manage our money. We ended the week on a special day for one of our students, Victoria, she celebrated her 18th birthday. As a treat, the class went to McDonald's to celebrate. |
