Today was another successful day for Mr. Alexander's class and the Pioneer Pipeline! Once we arrived at the blue house peer mentors took their students in different directions and the day had begun. Levi and Anna went with their peer mentors Allison, Haley, and Brandon to the mailroom. Anna and Levi showed some team work and sorted mail into the according mailboxes. Across campus Jade and her peer mentor Samantha were having some fun in Erwin Hall painting. Jade showed off her artistic ability and enjoyed making a little bit of a mess. After cleaning up, Jade and Samantha headed over to Dyson Baudo Recreation Center where they walked a few laps around the track and talked. Also at Dyson Baudo was peer mentor Trevor, Bryant, and Carsyn. The boys enjoyed a few games of racquetball and spent some time watching the racquetball course Marietta College offers students. Josie and her peer mentor Cassy had a very busy day running errands. Josie was able to learn an independent living skill and practiced making coffee. The girls also spent time weaving friendship bracelets and listening to music. The group came back together at Lower Gilman for our class lunch. Once we finished our lunch, the class ventured to the mall to find Sigma Kappa sorority offering free lemonade and popsicles to campus. The class, teacher, aides, and peer mentors all took advantage of the free treats and music. Everyone participated in a little dancing and headed back to the blue house. Carsyn left the class and went to attend his college course. This course is requiring Carsyn to attempt a type of art that is new and challenging to him. He has accepted the challenge and is working very hard. Before we knew it, the bus was picking us up and we were heading back to Warren High School.

Today started off a little different for the Pioneer Pipeliners. There was a new face waiting for us at the Blue House when we arrived on campus. Elissa Collopy is a Marietta College student who is majoring in journalism. She writes for the Marietta College Newspaper (The Marcolian) and is writing a story about our class. After asking the students and peer mentors about the program, students went off with their peer mentors for a busy day. Josie and Cassy went downtown for Josie’s first day of work at Fish’n Stuff. This was the same job that Josie had last semester. The owner enjoyed her work ethic and attitude so much, that she loved having her back in the store. Bryant and Chris Thrasher went with their peer mentors to the Marietta YMCA. Here the boys enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool. Levi and Allison were busy hard at work at Campus Police. Levi has been hard at work giving parking tickets and patrolling campus. The class met at Lower Gilman for lunch with the exception of Mr. Alexander who was speaking on a panel. Dr. Bauer asked him to speak in front of his EDUC 110 class which is an introduction to Education course. After lunch the class and Mr. Alexander met back at the blue house to share what they had done that day. Before we knew it Carsyn was off with his peer mentor Travis and his case of art tools to class. Then we were back to WHS to write in our journals about the day’s events.
