October 28-30
Another great week for the Pioneer Pipeline! Students continued their weekly duties and had some fun with their peer mentors. Each student worked very hard this week and is starting to really improve at their jobs. Peer mentors and students are really developing some great relationships and have been participating in various recreational activities. Carsyn Cunningham had his first week of work at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. Carsyn is in charge of wiping down workout machines, washing towels, wiping the basketball courts with the sweeper, and taking students ID’s at the front desk. Most importantly he gets to spend time talking to students as they walk by. Bryant Wolf and his peer mentor Trevor were very busy this week developing some independent living skills. On Tuesday, Trevor and Bryant spent some time doing laundry. Bryant learned how to separate his clothes, put them in the washer and dryer, and how to fold clothes once they were dry. On Thursday, Trevor and Bryant went to Giant Eagle and bought chicken fingers and French fries. They then went to Harrison Hall and cooked the food in the kitchens. Bryant also was able to land a job at his favorite restaurant, McDonald’s, which starts next week. Anna was able to spend a wonderful week with Haley and Brandon. Haley and Anna spent some time wheeling around on the basketball courts listening to Boston. The girls also spent time studying Anna’s spelling words. At work Anna spent her time stamping papers. Josie and Cassy spent some time together this week at work where Josie fed the animals. The girls also went to McDonalds this week with Jade and her peer mentor Samantha. Samantha and Jade went to the YMCA after working at Subway and went swimming. Levi and Allison continued their duties working for campus police ticketing and keeping the campus safe.
