Hello! My name is Alexis O'Hair and I am a Junior here at Marietta College. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. If you head two and half hours up route 77 and then another 2 and a half hours on 80/90 until exit 59, you will end up in the beautiful and historic river front town of Maumee Ohio. This is where I spent the first 18 years of my life. While attending Maumee High school I was involved with many extracurricular activities along with sport teams. I was the president of our student body and Captain of my Cross Country, Swimming, and Softball team. I was also involved in a lot of community service work, which is what got me involved in the classroom in the first place. I was in a program called Ohio Reads which allowed students to go into schools and work with the younger children with things like reading, setting up lessons, or helping the teacher with whatever they needed. This is the idea that got me thinking about becoming a teacher. When I arrived on Campus not knowing a soul and being 5 hours away from home I was excited and scared at the same time. Once on campus I started volunteering with young children and was working as a tour guide. These things gave me more opportunities to work with students and I found that teaching is what I can see myself doing the rest of my life. Which leads me to why I chose to be a Peer Mentor. I love working with other people and was excited about this opportunity. Just so you know a little more about me I love to play sports or to do anything active! I also love to read, but I especially love to read harry potter. I love to go shopping with my friends, and I also love to do all different types of crafts. But most of all I love listening to One Direction and Big Time Rush! I am so excited to meet all of you and work with you all this semester! Its going to be a lot of fun and we are all going to learn a lot!
