This was a week of firsts for the Pioneer Pipeline. We welcomed a new student to our class this week! Ashton Suprano came up this week from Barlow-Vincent and has become part of our family. She has adapted well to the high school and college environment and we are excited to see her grow! Her mentor is Taryn who had her first week being a peer mentor. The girls went to campus police and got her picture taken for her Marietta College ID badge. Ashton and Taryn joined the class at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center and played some basketball. She also got to eat at Gilman with the class and experience college life to the fullest by enjoying some ice cream. Another big first this week was Bryant Wolf’s first day working at McDonald’s! Bryant got to take a tour of the facility and meet some of his coworkers. Bryant worked very hard cleaning tables and chairs, mopping the lobby, washing a stack of trays, and refilling straws and lids. His peer mentor Trevor was with him every step of the way and helped him when he needed it. Bryant even got an official McDonald’s hat and polo shirt that he will wear when he goes to work. At the end of his shift he got his favorite happy meal. It was a busy but fun first day of work for Bryant. Jade and Ms. Males went to Subway for work. Jade showed really good imitative at work by asking for my work. After she cleaned the tables and chairs she asked if she could sweep the floor. Jade and Ms. Males swept the front rugs of the lobby and behind tables. They made the lobby look like new! Chris Thrasher spent his morning in the DBRC weight room. He tried every machine and even spent some time on the treadmill. Carsyn continued his duties at the DBRC front desk. He took a quick inventory of all the machines and collected any dirty towels. Carsyn continues going to class every Tuesday and Thursday and will be having his art displayed at the University of Cincinnati! We are all very proud of Carsyn and his hard work he has shown.
