September 30-October 2, 2014
This was an eventful week for the Pioneer Pipeline and the students of Warren High School. The students participated in many recreational and vocational activities throughout this week. During the week the students utilized the Gathering Place, which is a facility where various recreational activities are available. Students, peer mentors, aides, and teacher all participated in activities such as, pool, ping pong, foosball, and darts. Each student tried each activity and spent some quality time with their peer mentor. A group of students also work with their peer mentors in a group project. Anna, Chris Thrasher, Bryant, and Carsyn all helped in cleaning flower beds around the blue house and Mills Hall. With the help from their peer mentors and aides. Students were able to use a variety of equipment like rakes and shovels in the removal of weeds. The class then put the remains of the clean flower bed in trash bags for the campus physical plant to collect. Students worked very hard and showed good team work by working together. Levi King also was showing good team work by working with campus police. Levi worked with campus police to tow a car that was parked in a faculty parking lot. Jade and her peer mentor Samantha were across campus shopping in the Marietta College book store. The girls baught a Marietta College shirt. They also went to go talk to Jade’s favorite person on campus Dr. Bauer. Josie and Cassy were busy working at the Fish’n Stuff pet store. Josie fed the hamsters, fish, birds, and lizards at the store. I was very proud of Josie this week because she dressed professionally for work. She showed up wearing nice clothes because she knew she had to work. The other employees at the pet store enjoy Josie’s company and good work ethic. Like every week students eat lunch as a class with their peer mentors. Students are starting to develop good communication skills with their peer mentors and other members of Marietta College. Bryant showed a big improvement this week by initiating a conversation with someone walking on campus. Overall, I saw a big improvement from every student in the class. Each student showed me something this week that I was very proud of. Either it was playing ping pong, having a conversation with someone, or picking weeds out of a flower bed, each student did something this week that showed they are learning.
